Workplace Mental Health Statistics for May Is Mental Health Awareness Month #8
May 11th — Statistic #8
From Lyra’s 2022 State of Workforce Mental Health Survey Report:
Of the employee benefit leaders who responded to the survey, 62% responded that they have higher expectations of their company’s medical plan, employee assistance program (EAP) or their dedicated mental health benefit plan since the start of 2021.
My Thoughts and Comments:
As readers of this report, we unfortunately do not know what these expectations are. Are the expectations related:
- Faster access?
- Better quality of care?
- Seamless transfer from the EAP program to a mental health provider
- Having a broader network of providers?
- Evaluation of the services the EAP and/or mental health vendor provide
- Vendor will implement telemental health services?
The wise employer today will assess the quality of care provided by mental health vendors and demand a comprehensive evaluation of the services the network providers of the EAP and mental health benefits vendors.
Mental health benefit utilization should receive the same level of scrutiny commonly seen today related to the employer’s health benefits utilization.
